HIGH DEMAND ON MEXICAN MANGOS

The 2024 Peruvian Mango season, which proceeds Mexico, had a near total crop failure. This led to very high demand on Mexican fruit from the start of the season as well as increases on freight. In contrast, this year Peru had a surplus of fruit. This led to cheap fruit being on the market well into the start of the Mexican season. Large retailers, both conventional and organic,  promoted all this fruit up until this last week when Peru came to an end abruptly. Demand sustained on mangos and that gap in Peruvian supply was filled with Mexican fruit. This led to a massive shortage of Mexican mangoes on both Tommy Atkins and Ataulfo varieties as the season kicked off.

The Peruvian Mango season is finished, and Mexico isn’t producing enough fruit to keep up with demand.

It can't be understated how much the conventional market effects the organic market, as the organic market share of mangos is incredibly minimal. Once we get into peak season we will see supply, quality, and price issues disappear.

We will have lots of Crespo information coming your way throughout the season, leading up to our annual Mango Mania display contest and sales promotions in the summer.
