Produce that inspires… knowledge.
Our passion for produce and drive to share knowledge across the chain is one of our biggest differentiators at Earl’s Organics.
HOW THE FAIR TRADE PREMIUM WORKS
October is Fair Trade Month. A few extra cents paid by the consumer – the Fair Trade Premium - will allow for democratically chosen projects to become a reality in farm worker communities; whether it’s a bus for the High School students, dental services or a multipurpose room, this benefit will bring empowerment through decision making and project execution.
TAYLOR’S GOLD PEARS
The Taylor's Gold pear can grow to be the largest of the pear varieties Frog Hollow tends to and like the Warren is smooth fleshed and equally well suited to eating fresh and baking. Taylor's Gold pears are harvested in early September and often available until December.
OCTOBER IS FAIR TRADE MONTH
Earl’s carries Fair Trade fruits and vegetables throughout the year. Look for Fair Trade Avocados, Bananas, Melons, Pineapples, Tomatoes and more. Every purchase empowers farm workers to improve their communities by deciding as a collective, how and when to invest the Fair Trade Premium.
GOODBYE SUMMER HELLO FALL
Late summer produce is starting to wind down and it is the time of year to start making room for the wonderful bounty of Fall. There is a chill in the morning air and new crop California red Gala apples and fragrant Bartlett Pears are the stars of the show.
FRESH JUJUBES PACKED WITH VITAMIN C
Crisp and refreshing, with a delicate fig-and-caramel flavor, fresh jujubes provide more vitamin C than your average citrus fruit. Toss into a weeknight salad, swap out added sugar in baked goods for the subtle sweetness, or simply remove the pit and whir into a healthy fruit smoothie to go.
TRACELAND AVOCADOS MORRO BAY
The flavor is very creamy and rich in oil content. We feel it is the best eating avocado of the season.
CALIFORNIA GALA APPLES ARE A SIGN OF FRESHNESS!
September is the time to celebrate the fresh apple crop after months of apples coming out of cold storage. Galas are now being harvested out of the Sacramento Delta River and the San Joaquin Central Valley, less than 85 miles from San Francisco.
STEVE CHINCHIOLO 4TH GENERATION APPLE GROWER
Steve Chinchiolo and family have been growing a variety of organic apples, grapes, stone fruit and almonds for 4 generations in California's Central Valley. Steve grows Gala’s, Fuji’s, Granny Smith’s, Pink Lady’s as well as a fun mix of heirloom apples for their cider company, Far West Cider.
CONCORD GRAPES
Beautiful deep purple seeded Concord grapes are highly aromatic. We would even say they have a floral flavor. One bite and you are reminded of drinking a delicious glass of grape juice. That is because grape juice and grape jelly are made from Concord grapes!
