FRUIT
Plenty of promotable opportunities on California Peaches and Nectarines! Great values on large and small Yellow Peaches and Nectarines. Pacific Northwest Cherries have started with the beautiful Chelan variety. It was a bit of a rough start with weather and pest pressure. Expect prices to remain high. California Strawberry season has kicked off with promotable volumes from multiple local growers.
Sun Valley, an Earl’s exclusive, is starting up slowly with their sweet California Raspberries. On the apple scene Domestic Apples are winding down fast and we are seeing more imports out of New Zealand. Mexico is winding down on Mini Seedless and Watermelon Bins. Thompson California Watermelon Bins are starting up and looking sharp! Speak with your Earl’s Sales Rep about preorders.

APPLES
Import Club Apples Jazz and Envy from New Zealand in 4 to 5 weeks. Domestic Fuji, Honeycrisp and Pink Lady moving into New Zealand and South America soon. Import utility apples are hard to find.
AVOCADOS

BANANAS
June-September is the wet season in Colima, Mexico and we are keeping a close eye on quality.
BERRIES
Blackberries and Raspberries from GreenBelle. Tomatero will start up with Blackberries in about a month.
Blueberries: We may see a 1-2 week gap. The recent heat wave wiped out California blueberries. Homegrown is finished and Oregon starts up at the end of the month.
Strawberries: Sun Valley sweet strawberries, an Earl’s Exclusive, are locally grown in Watsonville. Tomatero, also out of Watsonville, is coming into strawberries in a big way. Now offering 1# and 2# clamshells. Mix and match sizes to increase your sales.
Raspberries: Sun Valley volume is looking up.
CITRUS
Variegated Pink Lemons are easy to spot by their vibrant green streaks against a bright yellow background. The pretty pink flesh gives a nice burst of tartness and has less seeds than a Eureka Lemon. Read more on our vegucation blog. Hyde Oroblanco has great flavor in a variety of sizes. Hyde Star Rubys are on Earl’s Weekly Specials! Marsalisi Meyer Lemons in good supply. Valencias are the orange to juice in the summer!
figs
Breba crop will go for the next few weeks. Look for Brown Turkey Figs beginning of July. Black Mission second crop will start mid-July through October.
GRAPES
California Black Seedless Grapes will start up when Anthony moves up to Bakersfield the later part of the week. It is heating up in Coachella and Grapes will be moving into Bakersfield this week. Air Chief and Sun View will start in July.
KIWIs
Transitioning to New Zealand in a few weeks. California Gold and Green Kiwis have excellent flavor.
MELONS
Mexico is slowing down and bins are very tight with larger sized fruit. Thomson is starting up slowly on California Watermelon Bins. Domestic Cantaloupes, Honeydew, Galia, Hami and now Tuscan Melons have good flavor.
PEARS
Import pears - Autumn Bartlett are slowing down. Delta fruit starting up in the next week or two. Remember, new crop fruit will take a few weeks to ripen and color up.
STONE FRUIT
Wonderfully sweet and juicy California Peaches, Nectarines, Apricots and Plums grown in the Central Valley. Varieties change weekly. California Cherries are done and Pacific Northwest Cherries will be limited and expensive. Download Earl’s Stone Fruit Calendars.

First week of July we will see Dragon Fruit from RVO and maybe Mexico. Dole Pineapple is back in better volume after a slow down due to weather.

VEGETABLES
There is no doubt, summertime is here. Excellent quality on Coastal View Produce California Asparagus out of Gonzales going through July 4th. Dwelley (Brentwood) French, Green, Yellow and Romano Beans are in good production. Dwelley Corn starts Monday as Calo wraps up their season. Summer Squash is available in straight and mixed packs. Download Earl’s new Summer Squash guide here. California Cherry Tomatoes are starting up from Comanche Creek in Chico. More growers coming on weekly. Stunning Local Greens are plentiful from Sun Valley, Tomatero and more. Tutti is back this week with succulent Snow, English and Snap Peas. Tomatero coming into Basil, Zucchini and Strawberries in a big way.

Standard sizes are plentiful. We should see some large along with small sizes.
ARTICHOKES
Creekside and Ocean Mist will be coming on soon with Artichokes all summer.
BABY BOK CHOY
Lakeside is back in better sizing and volume.
BEETS
Sun Valley has a solid program and quality across the board on Red Bunched and Loose.

California Dwelley (Brentwood) Blue Lake, French, Romano and Yellow Wax Beans say summertime.
SWEET BABY BROCCOLI
Lakeside is back with good volume. We will see some from Tomatero and Sun Valley.
brussels sprouts
Covilli smalls are a good value. Large sizes will be very tight this week.
carrots
Sun Valley and Sunrise Nantes are sharp! Bunny Luv retail Shredded Carrots are back.
cauliflower
Full offering from Sun Valley - Naked Cauliflower (no plastic), Purple and Orange and Romanesco.
celery
Market remains tight with high prices. Seeing some relief as Braga returns to Salinas.
corn
Calo is wrapping up and the first Dwelley Bi-Color Corn arrives Monday.
cucumbers
Now is the time of year for Varietal Cucumbers including Painted Serpent, Pickling and Lemon. Slicers are tight for another 2-3 weeks. Divine is gapping as they move between growing regions. Aztlan is done.
eggplant
California starts this week.
garlic
Garlic will be very limited this week. Mexico is limited and Argentina is done. California season starts the last week of June.
ginger
A couple more weeks of old crop Ginger and then it will transition to new crop air freight for a few weeks out of Peru.
tumeric
Available in a variety of sizes - 5# and 10#
greens
The Salinas/Watsonville growing region is producing wonderful quality local greens, think Sun Valley and Tomatero!
herbs
Sunrise will have Italian parsley for 2 weeks. Lakeside and Josie’s will have plenty.
lettuce
Organic Girl Butter short due to raw quality issues not meeting OG premium specs. We are seeing issues with aphid pressure, wind burn and compact heads. Butter will be spotty throughout the week. Local Lettuce highlights this week include crisp heads of Tomatero Red and Green Little Gems and gorgeous green, red and mixed heads of Sunrise Salanova.
leeks
Tomatero Leeks have beautiful white shanks.
bell peppers
Colored Bells are looking good. California has started up with Green Peppers.
hot peppers
Hot Peppers are drying up. Jalapenos and Serranos (Mexico) are hanging on until California starts up.
onions
Fresh onions from Sunrise coming soon. Red and Yellow Medium Onions back but very tight. Terra Firma is moving from Spring Onions into their Cured Onions as we get into summer.
potatoes
California Russet counts later this week with limited availability. The Pacific Northwest is done and there is no product available out of Colorado. Plenty of Russet Bales available.
peas
Tutti Frutti Snow Peas are back along with vibrant English and Snap Peas.
rhubarb
One to two weeks left in the season. Rhubarb is very weather dependent and needs a summer temperature of 75° or below for maximum production. Once the temperatures reach 90° or above the plant will start to wilt.

sweet potatoes
Keeping it tight, end of season supply. Remember these were harvested in the end of 2021!
tomatoes
Local Cherry Tomatoes are starting to come on. Comanche Creek (Chico) Gold Nuggets are so sweet! Ambrosio (Gilroy) has the first dry farmed Early Girl of the season. More growers to start soon. Wilgenburg is in full swing on their greenhouse grown Heirloom Tomatoes. Tutti Heirlooms in the next few weeks.
