SUNNY CAL FARMS

Sunny Cal Farms in Reedley is owned and operated by third generation grower/shipper C.J. Buxman, former president of Fruit World Co., and his wife Maureen. The original Sunny Cal Farms was started in 1981 by Buxman’s father, Carl Jasper Buxman, and packed under the Jasper label. Recently resurrected, Sunny Cal Farms and Jasper harkens back to the day when quality and flavor was paramount, and a handshake and somebody’s word meant more than a contract. C.J., along with his wife and partner, Maureen, wanted to use the historic company name and label to rekindle the yearning for fruit that puts quality and flavor above all else.

It was here that C.J. grew up in the fast-paced produce environment and gained his knowledge of the wide breadth of commodity experience, including stone fruit, citrus, asian pears, apples, cherries, quince, kiwi, persimmons, pomegranates and more.

C.J. and Maureen grow 120 acres of organic and conventional specialty and traditional citrus, along with heirloom and novel grapes, manager another 100 acres, and have long-standing relationships with other foundational California family farmers who share their commitment to providing quality fruit and exceptional customer service.

Blessed by the abundance of American farm life, CJ and Maureen are committed to supporting farmers in developing nations.  Before they take a penny of salary, they have pledged to donate $.10 from every box to organizations that aid micro and subsistence farming around the world.
